Abel Collins Almshouses, Nottingham
Park Street and Houndsgate, for 24 aged men and women, were founded in 1709 by Mr. Abel Collins, who bequeathed an estate for that purpose. In 1830 a block of buildings, in extension of the charity was built at the junction of Carrington Street with Grey Friar Gate, for an additional 20 inmates. The income is now £850. Each inmate receives 4s 6d weekly and three tons of coal yearly. [dated 1899]
The Almshouses are now maintained by the United Charities of Abel Collins, who own more than 50 homes at Derby Road, Beeston, Nottingham.
